Nsembe Technologies has been selected as one of the Top 20 startups in the IGNITE Digital Economy Incubator and Accelerator, run by BongoHive. Nsembe progressed through the Top 40 stage before making the final Top 20.
IGNITE is a BongoHive programme co-funded by the European Union under Global Gateway. It supports early-stage digital startups through structured product development, market validation and growth support.
Why it matters
Nsembe SMS, our offline-first school management system, is live in four Zambian schools with 1,000 students. Being selected into the IGNITE Top 20 recognises that work and gives us support to scale it, along with Nsembe Books for SMEs.
In its profile of the founder, BongoHive wrote: “Nsembe means ‘sacrifice’ or ‘offering,’ and that idea sits at the heart of why Kampamba Shula started the business. As an economist who has spent over a decade working on development, technology, and policy, Kampamba saw firsthand the gap between Zambia's potential and the tools available to close it.”
